Carla Dixon - Biography
Carla was born in Bremerton, WA. She has been married to the same man for 58 years, has 3 children and 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. After the children moved on she and her husband retired and became (snow birds) moving from Washington to Arizona and back every 6 months for nearly 30 years.
Carla has always been creative. During the years when she was the cook, housekeeper, chauffeur, child sitter, etc. she made and sold art at community fairs. Taught her children how to make gifts, where they learned the wonderful feeling of giving to others.
She learned a lot about paper crafting after becoming introduced to rubber stamps. These were not just for stamping cards, there were many uses for them. When she moved to Tucson for the first time, living in an active adult community, she helped start a Rubber Stamping Club. Every winter for 12 years she taught and helped with running the club.
After moving to Buckeye, AZ which is close to Phoenix, she became a member of the Fine Arts Club and taught classes in art journaling and mixed media.
Back in Washington she attended Artiest and Journal fest for several years taking classes from well known artists who used a number of different mediums. As a self taught artist, taking online classes was another way to learn and develop more knowledge and ways to use art products. During summers in Lacey WA, living in Jubilee, another active adult community she taught classes and did demos to pass her knowledge on to others
Carla was published in two books focused on Art Journaling and several issues of Rubber Stamper.
